Se celebró en el Forum de Inglewood, en California, una nueva entrega de los iHeartRadio Music Awards, presentados en esta ocasión por Ryan Seacrest. Los premios cada día van contando con más interés y reflejan mejor las tendencias y los artistas que los Grammy, muchas de las categorías se votan en las redes sociales. Había premios para dar y tomar y Drake encabezaba las nominaciones con 12, aunque luego solo se llevó 4 premios.
Drake no ganó ni mejor artista masculino ni mejor canción. Justin Timberlake ganó el premio a la mejor canción, por Can’t Stop the feeling, la artista femenina del año fue Adele, el masculino Justin Bieber y el mejor grupo Twenty One Pilots, The Chainsmokers ganaron el premio al mejor nuevo artista. The Chainsmokers con 5 y Twenty One Pilots con 4 premios fueron otros de los triunfadores.
Los premios contaron con las actuaciones de Katy Perry que cantó su Chained to the rhythm, Big Sean, Noah Cyrus, Ed Sheeran, que tocó sus dos éxitos, Shape of you y Castle on the hill, The Chainsmokers, Thomas Rhett, Shawn Mendes y Bruno Mars, que cerró la ceremonia, también actuaron. En directo solo se entregaron 13 premios.
