Este año se reconocen trabajos de David Bowie, The rise and fall of Ziggy Stardust, Spiders from Mars, Remain in light de Talking Heads, Over the rainbow de Judy Garland, People de Barbra Streisand, In the midnight hour de Wilson Pickett o American Pie de Don McLean.
Son grabaciones que histórica y culturalmente tienen un importante significado y tienen que tener al menos 10 años de antigüedad. Esta última tacada va desde 1888 al 1997. Son ya 475 grabaciones, las que componen actualmente el registro.
