Se celebró en el Microsoft Theater en Los Ángeles, la ceremonia de entrega de los BET Awards, que entrega premios a la comunidad afroamericana, hace años centrada en la música, pero que ahora también lo hace en el cine, la televisión, y el deporte. La gran tiunfadora de la noche fue Beyoncé con 5 premios, incluidos el álbum y vídeo del año.
La ceremonia que estuvo presentada por la actriz Leslie Jones, contó con las actuaciones de Bruno Mars con Perm, DJ Khaled con I’m the one, Migos con dos canciones, el homenaje a George Michael con Careless whisper de la mano de El Debarge y al saxo Kamasi Washington, y también los New Edition, que fueron los que recibieron el premio a toda una carrera con Mr. Telephone Man, If It Isn’t Love y Can You Stand the Rain.
