Se celebró el Record Store Day y ya tenemos los datos del mercado americano. La undécima edición que se celebró el 21 de abril ha vuelto a mostrar una mejora en las ventas totalizando 733.000 vinilos vendidos para la semana. Es récord del RSD en la semana y la tercera mejor marca de ventas en vinilo en una semana desde 1991.
Además 580.000 de esos vinilos se vendieron en tiendas independientes. Los discos más vendidos que salieron exclusivamente para el RSD son la edición en vinilo rojo del Greatest Hits de Bruce Springsteen, después David Bowie con Welcome to the Blackout (Live London ’78) y Neil Young con Tonight’s the Night – Live at the Roxy.
En singles el más vendido fue Led Zeppelin con Friends/Rock and Roll y luego David Bowie con Let’s Dance (Full Length Demo) y Sufjan Stevens con Mystery of Love.
Las dos semanas de mayor venta de vinilos desde 1991, son en semanas de navidad, la semana del 24 de diciembre de 2015, con 753.000 unidades y la del 21 de diciembre de 2017, con 811.000 unidades vendidas, según Nielsen.
