Se entregaron los terceros iHeartRadio Music Awards 2016, que se celebraron la noche del domingo en Los Ángeles, en el Forum, compartieron día, algo curioso con los premios de la ACM, y en casi en la única entrega de premios, en la que se verán las caras Taylor Swift y Adele, ya que Swift no competirá casi con total seguridad en los próximos Grammy, la cantante americana ganó a la británica.
Swift se llevó el premio a la artista femenina del año, la mejor gira, el mejor álbum y el mejor momento meme. Adele solo ganó la canción del año. Otros triunfadores de una gala, que este año contó con una treintena de premios fueron Justin Bieber, que ganó el mejor artista masculino, la mejor canción de dance junto a Diplo y Skrillex, y los mejores fans. Y Drake y Twenty One Pilots que se llevaron 2.
U2 se llevó el premio Innovator, una especia de premio a la carrera de un artista. La gala la presentó un dinámico Jason Derulo. Con actuaciones como las de Justin Bieber, Zayn, Meghan Trainor o Iggy Azalea.
