Se ha celebrado la 69 edición de los premios Emmy, los premios más importantes de la televisión. La ceremonia que ha tenido lugar en el Microsoft Theater en Los Ángeles, California, y ha sido presentada por Stephen Colbert.
The Handmaid’s Tale ha hecho historia al ser la primera serie de una plataforma online, que consigue el premio a la mejor serie de drama en los Emmy. La serie de Hulu, que en España se puede ver en la HBO, fue la gran triunfadora de la noche, al llevarse 5 premios en total. La serie de Hulu se llevó también el premio de la actriz principal en drama para Elisabeth Moss y el de mejor actriz secundaria en drama para Ann Dowd. Alexis Bledel consiguió otro premio más, de actriz invitada, premio que no se entregó en la gala.
Big Little Lies fue la otra gran triunfadora con otros cinco premios, encabezando el de mejor series limitadas, unida al premio a la mejor actriz en serie limitada o miniserie, para Nicole Kidman. En comedia volvió a triunfar Veep y Julia Louis-Dreyfus se llevó su sexto Emmy, por la serie, octavo en total.
La mejor tv movie fue para otra de las favoritas, San Junípero, de Black Mirror. Además Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino, se llevó 2 premios uno de ellos al mejor actor en comedia por Atlanta. Sterling K. Brown le dio un merecido premio a una de las favoritas del público, This is us. Alec Bladwin ganó como actor secundario en comedia por Saturday Night Live y el veterano John Lithgow, lo hizo por The crown.
