Garth Brooks, Chris Stapleton, Miranda Lambert , Keith Urban y hasta Taylor Swift, triunfan en los CMAs

Se celebró la 51 edición de los premios de la Country Music Association, los CMAs, y que presentaron un año más Carrie Underwood y Brad Paisley desde el Bridgestone Arena de Nashville. No hubo un gran triunfador, estuvo todo bastante repartido. Miranda Lambert que tenía cinco nominaciones se llevó solo el de mejor vocalista, algo por otra parte ya casi claro, récord en la categoría.

Garth Brooks se llevó por sexta ocasión, segunda consecutiva el premio al mejor artista el Entertainer of the Year. La ceremonia estuvo plagada de homenajes desde el principio con el recuerdo a la matanza en Las Vegas, con la interpretación del Amazing Grace por parte de Eric Church para seguir luego con el Hold my hand de Hootie & The Blowfish, en la interpretación de Darius Rucker, Keith Urban y Lady Antebellum

Dierks Bentley y Rascal Flatts hicieron el homenaje a Troy Gentry componente de Montgomery Gentry. Brothers Osborne hicieron el homenaje a Don Williams con Tulsa Time, y Little Big Town hicieron el correspondiente homenaje a Glen Campbell con Wichita lineman.

Artistas que en principio tienen poco que ver con el country como Pink y Niall Horan actuaron con bastante solvencia, la primera con Barbies y el segundo con I could use a love song con Seeing blind y junto a Maren Morris. Kelsea Ballerini cantó Legends, single de su nuevo álbum, junto a una auténtica leyenda, Reba McEntire.

Uno de los miembros del Hall of Fame, Alan Jackson tocó uno de sus primeros éxitos, Chasin’ that neon rainbow y también lo hizo la propia Miranda Lambert con To learn her. Otro de los ganadores Chris Stapleton interpretó Broken halos. Keith Urban consiguió su primer premio en la categoría de single del año con Blue ain’t your color, mientras que en la categoría de canción del año, en la dedicada a los compositores la ya alejada del country, Taylor Swift consiguió el premio por Better man, la canción que entregó a Little Big Town, que ganaron el premios al grupo del año.

Dos veteranos Willie Nelson y Glen Campbell ganaron el premio en el último disco, casi póstumo de Glen Campbell, Adiós, por Funny how time slips away, fue la primera victoria para Neslon en 15 años y la primera desde 1968 para Campbell.
