Se entregaron los ARIA Awards, los cuartos premios más importantes de la música, tras los Grammy, BRITs y Juno. En un día de tormentas épicas sobre Sídney, Amy Shark, y Gurrumul con 4 premios, triunfaron sobre el resto.
La semi-debutante Amy Shark se llevó el premio a la mejor artista femenina y a la mejor artista pop por segundo año consecutivo. Love Monster su primer disco completo y que fue #1 en Australia, se llevó el premio al mejor álbum. Además se llevó el premio a la producción del año por I said Hi.
La cantante actuó en la gala que presentó Keith Urban, y con actuaciones de Rita Ora, 5 Seconds of Summer, Courtney Barnett, Dean Lewis, Kasey Chambers y George Ezra. El propio Urban cerró la gala con Amy Shark y la canción The fighter, que en estudio cantó junto a Carrie Underwood.
La industria australiana rindió homenaje a Gurrumul, el artista fallecido y que con su último disco Djarimirri (Child of the Rainbow) hizo historia al ser #1 en Australia, el primer trabajo en lengua indígena en conseguirlo. El cantante fallecido en 2017, recibió el premio al mejor artista masculino y mejor lanzamiento independiente, además de mejor álbum de world music.
La canción del año fue a parar a 5 Seconds of Summer por Youngblood. Kasey Chambers se convirtió a sus 42 años, en la artista australiana más joven en ingresar en el ARIA Hall of Fame.
